If you're going to convert AVI to MPEG, be sure to ALWAYS record the AVI as "uncompressed 24-bit full frames".. NO compresson! AVI (and MPEG) compression is lossy, like JPEG.. No matter what, format conversion and compression brings qualitydrop, unless it is some format of uncompressed video.Some formats can have better quality than others at some bitrate. Butbecause you think very low bitrate ASF looked almost the same as mid bitrateMPEG, it does NOT mean converting that MPEG will give you the same qualitywith smaller size since double compression is involved. Usually, goodlooking ASF is made from good source. NOT compressed video like MPEG.Anyway, don't just jump into converting. Test it by yourself before that.
