AVI PREVIEW : The only program I have found that plays back an full res(720x480x30fps) avi file is Power DVD. Any TV (interlaced) videoplayed on a PC will look bad and play jumpy (you need to make anythingto be played on a PC non-interlaced.don't worry about it looking bad on the PC as long as it plays back ona NTSC monitor cleanly.I had a similar problem with the DC10+.... could you ever play MJPEG AVIswith Windows Media Player or has the problem always been there.Mine always used to play them, then it mysteriously stopped....unfortunately I don't exactly know what solved it, but I did reinstall thelatest version of Direct X (8.1), and the drives that came with my card,then updated them to the latest version too. Even more bizarrely, the avi'splay back completely smooth now, when before they were only playing at abouthalf frame rate... try reinstalling everything to do with the DC30, andalso try Media Player 6.4 as opposed to the piece of junk that is WMP 7....you should find it under C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe. AVI PREVIEW : After installing WMP9, I now find that I cannot preview partial .avi files in the Windows Explorer file properties for an .avi file. When I click the Properties for an .avi file I do not get a tab for either the Details of the file or a tab for Preview. Anybody know how I can get these back? When installing WMP9 I chose to uncheck all the boxes to make the player the default player. But lo and behold, it went ahead and made WMP9 the default player for just about everything. Very frustrating. I thought only RealMedia did that kind of thing but I guess Microsoft does also. After about an hour of rearranging file type extension associations, I got everything back to where it was before the install. Does anyone know how to get the Detail and Preview tabs back in the properties for an .avi file? Thanks in advance.
