AVI CONVERTER : I have searched a dozen shareware archives and the Web for a QuickTimeto AVI converter for a PowerMac. Can someone tell me where such aconverter might be?Steve LutesCenter for Balance Disorders Rm. It mightbe off a MacAddict CD (not the current one with the worm...) or it might beshareware that I found through a search. I just got it a few weeks ago and haveonly used it once, but it did the trick. I have a bunch of items in a folderthat I named "QT to AVI" when I was trying to do this conversion. The programthat does it is called VfW Converter, which came with VfW 1.1 Utilities (whichalso includes the AVI to QT utility plus an extension providing Indeo Windowscompressors). If you can't locate the VfW Converter, let me know and I cane-mail it to you (VfW 1.1 Utilities is only 180k). AVI CONVERTER : I have 2 questions.. first off I do not like the RM player. Is therean RM to AVI converter? Is there an MPEG to AVI converter besides thatrawrip.exe and all those related DOS utilities? Or is there a betterMPEG player, currently I am using vmpeg 1.7 and it's old. Secondly I am having problems with some of the files posted lately, most notibly the AG*.AVI series. The problem is I can't fast forward throughthe movies. If I fast forward the whole movie stops and seems to be "seeking"as if it had no reference frame every few frames. Is this because I don't havesome sort of software or are the clips just saved in such a way that is theway they are? I am using the intel indeo 5.0 files and win 95b. If there is a FAQ that can answer these questions or someone couldreply and let me know I'd appreciate it. I've already checked out a few FAQsand they don't answer these questions. AVI CONVERTER : I wanted a program to create an AVI at 15fps out of a bunch of still images.I tried Adobe Premiere, but this keeps on thinking that I want 30fps and soit skips frames here and there and I end up with something running at thewrong speed (I think I need to set the timebase to 15fps, but I only accepts24-30 fps).I thought that getting hold of a decent [and free] Still images sequence toAVI converter would be easy, but after many web searched I'm still unable tofind anything useful.I tried a bmp2avi program I found, but unfortuanately the AVIs that thisproduced behave strangely when I applied mpeg compression to them (I triedtwo different mpeg encoders, and both messed up the colours. Whatever it is,it's not a pallette problem).QuickTime Pro can at least convert stills to quick time or avi. It costsaround $30 I think...but works just fine. AVI CONVERTER : I did this last night in Premiere: brought in the Bitmap sequence of 43images. Rendered an uncompressed AVI at 5 frames per second, each imagebeing 1 second. Brought that uncompressed AVI into Premiere, set its speedto the proper length, and rendered that at 15fps. Took about five minutes todo.--BrianYes, I can get it to do that. The problem is that it takes a 'timebase' at30fps,ie: it assumes that the original stills were taken from a movie running at30fps.When it combines all the stills into a 15fps AVI, it skips every other one,so the AVI runs at twice the speed.I have not experienced this problem. Perhaps make each clip twice as long...Timebase is what is selected when a new project is open? I never payattention to that box. Guess I should. I just set the Render output to 15fpsand go with that. Mind you, most of my input is from 3DMax, and that isconfigured for a custom frame rate of 15fps, so Premiere may already getthat info with the import...--Brian AVI CONVERTER : This sounds like one hell of a way to do what should be straightforward andsimple. How many frames do you have? You can always send the files to me andI can knock it out on my Amiga for you and output it back in AVI or what everyou like.if you want 15 frames in a second and premiere wants 30, just placeeach image in 2 times, so frame 1 and 2 would be image1, frame 3 and 4would be image2 and so forth... making 15 "frames" (images) persecond...hope this helpsYes, that's what I did, but I find it laughable that a package as complex asAdobe Premiere has problems with this simple exercise. No, I don't think you've understood the problem. Making each frame last 2frames in this case would simply HALVE the number of frames but make eachone last TWICE as long. Not the ideal solution I'm sure you'll agree...
